My choice for GOTY 2011 came down to 3 games that run the full spectrum of narrative, the luxurious open world of Skyrim, the player choice of Human Revolution and the rollercoaster ride of Portal 2.

GOTY 2007-2010

It’s the end of the year again so everyone’s thinking about the game of the year for 2011. I’m a bit stuck though, I’ve played plenty of games this year but nothing has really stuck out as the best. I decided to think back for a few years and remember my faves from years past to help. The fact that I’m currently juggling a few indies with stay-up-until-dawn sessions of Skyrim also means I don’t feel ready to call it for this year. It might be January before I’m ready to make my final descision and I wanted to post something in December.

I’m on holiday in India for a few months with only my Asus Eee Pad and my wifes laptop for gaming so I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft. I’ve not played it much since the Halloween update so there is lots of cool new stuff I’m just discovering. So far my favourite change is food.

Chicken Pong – Part 2

In part 1, I animated a chicken sprite and got it bouncing around the screen. Once I had that for a basic demo, I decided to extend the project into a game of Pong.

Chicken Pong – Part 1

I worked on my first 2d xna project recently and decided a postmortem would be a good first post for this blog. There’s plenty of 2d xna hello world examples out there so I’m not going to go into a lot of extraneous detail in this post. I’m mostly going to focus on the ideas behind getting my first project up and running.
